Contexto
Landing an aircraft on a short runway or abandoning take-off from high speed requires the aircraft brakes to absorb extremely large amounts of kinetic energy which, in turn, results in the brake assembly being heated to such high temperatures that brake cooling times as long as one hour could be necessary. The cooling time depends on, among other things, the outside air temperature.
