Contexto
Most of the load is carried by the rear crossover tube of a skid-equipped helicopter. Similarly, the rear gear of a wheeled helicopter carries most of the load. If the aircraft is equipped with skids, note the type of skid. Some helicopters can optionally be equipped with taller skids (which, in turn, mean higher vertical CG), to help prevent tail rotor ground strikes, to help mount external equipment, or facilitate loading of passengers or cargo. Some types of skid gear are equipped with dampers so touchdown shocks or jolts are not transmitted to the main rotor system.
