- The procedure to be followed if, after an instrument approach, a landing is not effected, and occuring normally: (a) when the aircraft has descended to the decision height and has not established visual contact, or (b) when directed by Air Traffic Control to pull up or to go around again.

- Turns in a missed approach procedure are only prescribed where terrain or other factors make a turn necessary.
- When a new instrument runway is being located, particular attention needs to be given to areas over which aeroplanes will be required to fly when following instrument approach and missed approach procedures, so as to ensure that obstacles in these areas or other factors will not restrict the operation of the aeroplanes for which the runway is intended.
