A modification that could potentially affect the safety of an aircraft or its occupants where, as a result of its embodiment, one or more of the following incidents may occur: (a) structural collapse, (b) loss of control, (c) failure of the motive power, (d) unintentional operation of, or inability to operate, any systems or equipment essential to the safety or operational function of the aircraft; (e) incapacitating injury to any occupant, or (f) unacceptable unserviceability or maintainability.

Contexto
The responsibilities of an Aircraft Maintenance (Technician/Engineer/Mechanic) (AME) range from line maintenance, day-to-day care and defect rectification to base maintenance (which can include major modification and repair of the aircraft structure or systems). In many approved maintenance organizations (AMOs), the AME supervises the work of teams of less experienced personnel.
