Contexto
An autopilot has a control panel in the cockpit that allows you to select the desired functions, as well as engage the autopilot.
In this accident case, about 20 seconds before touchdown, the first officer switched the autopilot from the command to the control wheel steering mode, a mode in which he manually controls the airplane's attitude.
