- Objects which do not project through the approach surface, but which would nevertheless adversely affect the optimum siting or performance of visual or non-visual aids should, as far as practicable, be removed.
- On a runway having significant traffic, the facilities to be provided should be an ICAO standard non-visual aid to final approach and landing, complemented by a visual approach slope indicator system. When a standard non-visual aid cannot be implemented in the first instance, this should not delay the installation of a visual approach slope indicator system.
