angle of attack
- Definição1
- The acute angle between the chord line and the relative airflow. Often referred to as an angle of incidence - which it is not. The angle of attack should not be confused with the pitch angle or attitude of aircraft, which are angles relative to the horizontal while the angle of attack is in respect to the relative airflow. It is referred to also as alpha.

- Nota adicional1
- Acronym in English: AOA.
- Nota adicional2
- The angle of attack is related to the flight path of the aircraft, not to the angle the wing makes with the horizontal. If the angle of attack becomes too great, the smooth airflow over the upper surface of the wing will break down. If no corrective action is taken by the pilot, there will be a sudden loss of lift and the aircraft will stall.
- Contexto
- Traditionally, an aircraft can stall at any airspeed, providing the angle of attack is great enough. Stalling speed is often used to refer to the speed below which the aircraft cannot remain airborne.
