The beginning of that portion of the runway usable for landing. (ICAO) On instrument runways, it is indicated by long stripes followed by the runway designation marking. The number of stripes is dependent on the width of the runway.

Contexto
A threshold should normally be located at the extremity of a runway unless operational considerations justify the choice of another location.
The marker beacons shall produce radiation patterns to indicate predetermined distance from the threshold along the ILS glide path.
