- (1) The controller provides vectors while monitoring the progress of the flight with radar, guiding the pilot through the descent to the airport/heliport or to a specific runway. (2) An instrument approach procedure that uses Precision Approach Radar (PAR) or Airport Surveillance Radar (ASR). (3) An approach, executed by an aircraft, under the direction of a radar controller (ICAO).

- Unless otherwise prescribed by the appropriate ATS authority, the controller conducting the approach should notify the aerodrome controller or, when applicable, the procedural controller when an aircraft making a radar approach is approximately 15 km (8 NM) from touchdown.
