(1) The controller provides vectors while monitoring the progress of the flight with radar, guiding the pilot through the descent to the airport/heliport or to a specific runway. (2) An instrument approach procedure that uses Precision Approach Radar (PAR) or Airport Surveillance Radar (ASR). (3) An approach, executed by an aircraft, under the direction of a radar controller (ICAO).

Contexto
Unless otherwise prescribed by the appropriate ATS authority, the controller conducting the approach should notify the aerodrome controller or, when applicable, the procedural controller when an aircraft making a radar approach is approximately 15 km (8 NM) from touchdown.
