- Precipitation from a cumuliform cloud. Showers are characterized by the suddenness of beginning and ending, by the rapid change of intensity, and usually by the rapid change in the appearance of the sky. Showery precipitation may be in the form of rain, ice pallets, or snow.

Drops and solid particles falling in a shower are generally larger than those falling in non-showery precipitation.
