- Accelerometers, which are fitted in aircraft cockpits, are called g meters. Most aircraft accelerometers indicate instantaneous acceleration, as well as the maximum positive and negative g applied since the instrument was last set.

- One major inertial navigation system manufacturer has developed a modification to the conventional INS which displays wind components throughout the approach and landing phase. The modified system calculates the wind component and, using an accelerometer, also computes vertical sink rate.
