- Nota adicional1
- The service to IFR (instrument flight rules) flights and to VFR (visual flight rules) flights is provided in accordance with the airspace classification. "Controlled airspace" is a generic term that covers ATS (air traffic service) airspace classes A, B, C, D, and E. Controlled airspace is subject to certain pilot qualifications, operating rules, and equipment requirements.
- Nota adicional2
- Standard IFR separation is provided to all aircraft operating under IFR in controlled airspace. Airspace designated as a continental control area, control area, control zone, terminal control area, or transition area, within which some or all aircraft may be subject to air traffic control areas, is a component of controlled airspace. Each Class B, Class C, and Class D airspace area designated for an airport contains at least one primary airport around which the airspace is designated.
- Contexto
- The pilots are still responsible for the safe and efficient control and navigation of their individual aircraft in all airspace. In controlled airspace, they still have to follow the clearances and instructions provided by controllers.
