A measure of electron (current) flow. One ampere is equal to a flow of one coulomb (6.28 billion billion electrons) past a point in one second. One ampere is also the amount of current that can be forced through one ohm of resistance by a pressure of one volt.

The ampere is that constant electric current which, if maintained in two straight parallel conductors of infinite length, of negligible circular cross-section, and placed 1 metre apart in vacuum, would produce between these conductors a force equal to 2 x 10-7 newton per metre of length.
