For a given cloud or cloud layer, the highest level in the atmosphere at which the air contains a perceptible quantity of cloud particles.

Contexto
The cloud top is usually the coldest part of the cloud and thus more sensitive to heterogeneous freezing. In addition, many satellite instruments are only sensitive to cloud top properties.
