Definição3
Ice crystals formed from airborne moisture on a surface whose temperature is below freezing. Frost differs from ice in that the frost crystals grow independently and therefore have a more granular texture.

Nota Adicional1
Below freezing refers to air temperature equal to or less than the freezing point of water (0 degree Celsius).
Nota Adicional2
Under certain conditions frost can cause the surface to become very slippery and it is then reported appropriately as reduced braking action.
Nota Adicional3
Under certain conditions frost can cause the surface to become very slippery and it is then reported appropriately as reduced braking action.
Contexto
In many climates, it may be necessary to heat the device to prevent deposition of frost and dew.
The philosophy of the runway condition report is that the aerodrome operator assesses the runway surface conditions whenever water, snow, slush, ice or frost are present on an operational runway. From this assessment, a runway condition code (RWYCC) and a description of the runway surface are reported which can be used by the flight crew for aeroplane performance calculations.
