Contexto
The refrigeration phenomenon is the most serious of all factors causing carburetor ice in helicopters. The effect of fuel vaporization after the fuel is introduced in the air stream and decreasing air pressure in the venturi causes a sharp drop in temperature in the carburetor. Should the temperature within the carburetor decrease to freezing or below freezing, carburetor ice may form on internal surfaces, including the throttle valve.
