Contexto
Mach number (M, the true airspeed divided by the speed of sound in the free air) is an important element for aircraft operations. In AMDAR systems, it is used to correct air temperature measurements and airspeed measurements. In dry air the speed of sound is proportional to the square root of absolute (static) temperature. However, static air temperature is not measured directly by the aircraft sensors, so an independent method of measuring Mach number is employed.
