- There was a small change to the Certificated Flight Instructor Practical Test Standards (PTS) in January 2015 that clarifies when a non-complex airplane is required for the practical test. The change states that a complex aircraft is not required when adding an airplane class rating to an existing flight instructor certificate that already contains an airplane category and class rating.

- All tests developed for a competency-based maintenance training programme, whether mastery or progress tests, should be criterion-referenced tests and assessments; the criteria used to measure competence should be published in examination and assessment guides and/or practical test standards.
