A second review (IER2) was requested at the CAEP/8 meeting (Montreal, 1-12 February 2010) to evaluate new technological advances with implications for aircraft noise reduction (e.g. open rotor, geared turbofans, blended wing body, etc.) to align with goal dates of 2020 (mid term) and 2030 (long term), as well as coordinate the technical approach with other panels of independent experts.
