INTERNATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION ORGANIZATION. Regulatory implications of the allocation of flight departure and arrival slots at international airports. Montreal, 2001. (Cir. 283 AT/119).
Contexto
There are two aspects to physical limitations on increasing airport capacity. The first is the altitude or surrounding terrain (e.g. mountains) which cannot be changed. The second is the airport location in relation to population or economic activity. When an airport is located in a densely populated area, the cost of acquiring the land to lengthen a runway, to handle larger aircraft, to add a new runway, or to expand terminal capacity, may well be prohibitively expensive, even if environmental concerns could be met.
