Contexto
This paper provides information regarding remotely provided aerodrome air traffic services (ATS), commonly known as remote air traffic control towers or remote towers, and asks ICAO to ensure that any implementation of this new technology by States or air navigation services providers (ANSPs) remains safe.
All of these capabilities combine to lessen the impact of reduced visibility conditions on aerodrome operations, as visual scanning is augmented by the presence of situational awareness, safety logic, and guidance and monitoring of aircraft taxi paths and trajectories. These capabilities also support the expanded use of virtual or remote towers as described in the B1-RATS module.
