- FAA Order 1050.1E provides FAA with three levels of environmental review documentation based on those required by NEPA – Categorical Exclusion (CATEX), Environmental Assessment (EA) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). A CATEX is the least intensive assessment option, while an EIS is the most intensive assessment option.
- FAA actions that are categorically excluded from preparation of an environmental assessment or environmental impact statement under the National Environmental Policy Act in the absence of extraordinary circumstances.
