- Especially for fighter, whose antenna is fixed; scanning is achieved by a progressive phase-shift from one side of the antenna to the other (or from bottom to top), the greater the shift the larger the steering angle θ. Normally slight upward tilt deflects head-on main-lobe reflection to enhance stealth characteristics.
