A systematic approach to the mental process used by pilots to consistently determine the best course of action in response to a given set of circumstances. The importance of learning effective ADM skills cannot be overemphasized. While progress is continually being made in the advancement of pilot training methods, aircraft equipment and systems, and services for pilots, accidents still occur.

Contexto
A key aspect to UPRT is for trainees to recognize developing and developed upset conditions. The emphasis is on using examples of instrumentation and visual cues to train awareness, recognition and prevention of a developing upset and recovery from a developed upset in order to improve effective aeronautical decision-making to prevent upset events.
With today’s improvements in avionics and the introduction of EFDs, pilots at any level of experience need an astute knowledge of the onboard flight control systems as well as an understanding of how automation melds with Aeronautical Decision-Making (ADM).
