- From blade tips to inboard wings, the OSTR represents a fundamental rethink of the tiltrotor. The defining innovation is the variable-speed rotor, which can operate across a range of revolutions per minute (rpm) from confined to a narrow rpm range around 100% to avoid exciting potentially catastrophic blade vibration.
