- Many wind shear detection systems (terminal Doppler weather radar (TDWR), integrated terminal weather system (ITWS) and weather system processor (WSP)) do not resolve the gust front wind shear with reference to the runway headings. For these systems, the wind shear value is the gust front gain, which may be very different from the airspeed increase encountered by aircraft.
