- The AMS(R)S is a special subset of the AMSS and, as such, is considered a separate service. The AMSS is a mobile-satellite service in which mobile earth stations are located on board aircraft. The AMS(R)S is reserved for communications relating to safety and regularity of flights, primarily along national or international civil air routes.
