air data computer
Definição1
An aircraft computer that receives and processes pitot pressure, static pressure, and temperature to calculate very precise altitude, indicated airspeed, true airspeed, and air temperature.

Definição2
ADC calculates flight parameters such as true air speed (TAS) and static pressure from air date sensors such as pilot head, total temperature probes and angle of attack sensor; drives displays and indicators (e.g. altitude, IAS), sets gains in automatic pilot, and gives information to other aircraft systems.

Definição3
An electronic digital computer in aircraft that senses or computes static and pilot pressure, outside air and total air temperature, IAS (indicated air speed), TAS (true air speed), pressure altitude, Mach number, angle of attack, and angle of yaw. All these are corrected for their known errors. Engine and flight control system computers use the output of air data computers.

Definição4
The computer and its integral parts which receives data from various environmental sensing systems, computes this data, and makes it available to the various navigation systems.

Contexto
The pitot-static probe is exposed in the free airstream beyond the aircraft boundary layer and measures static pressure (i.e. free airstream pressure) and total pressure (static pressure, and impact or dynamic) pressure. The sensor outputs are passed via an electronic barometer to the air data computer (ADC). The ADC computes pressure altitude and Mach number from these two measurements.
