Contexto
A U.S.A. air carrier’s Air Operator Certificate (AOC) includes the OpSpecs applicable to the operator. The OpSpecs contain the exemptions from, authorizations to deviate from, or the conditions necessary to comply with, a specific regulation. Such deviations, exemptions, or “means of compliance” augment and, in some cases, supersede the related regulations. It is important to note that uninterrupted OpSpec approval is based upon ongoing conformance with the additional specifications stipulated in conjunction with an operator’s original approval.
The OpSpecs provide an effective method for establishing safety standards that address a wide range of variables. In addition, OpSpecs can be adapted to a specific certificate holder or operator’s class and size of aircraft and type and kinds of operations. OpSpecs can be tailored to suit an individual certificate holder or operator’s needs.
Today at major terminals, some commercial operators with appropriate equipment, pilot qualifications, and approved Operations Specifications (OpSpecs) may takeoff with visibility as low as 300 feet runway visual range (RVR).
