Thundercloud.—A towering cumulus cloud which is always associated with thunderstorms. The technical name is CUMULO-NIMBUS.

If the system is capable of detecting cloud type, but not to associate this type to a given cloud layer, two cases are possible: If the system has not detected CB or TCU, cloud type is nevertheless considered as available
Types of cloud other than significant convective clouds shall not be identified.Significant convective clouds, when observed, shall be identified by appending the letter abbreviations CB (Cumulonimbus) or TCU (Cumulus congestus of great vertical extent), as appropriate, to the cloud group without a space.
