- Greenwich Mean Time or GMT is the time displayed by the Shepherd Gate Clock at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London. When the sun is at its highest point exactly above the Prime Meridian, it is 12:00 noon at Greenwich.

- Morning and afternoon mixing heights are typically estimated from the vertical temperature profiles observed at selected National Weather Service stations taken at 1200 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and surface temperature measurements.
- Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) has now replaced Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) as the accepted international standard for clock time.
