- 1 Bright aircraft-mounted light steady or flashing while rotating continuously in azimuth, usually synonymous with strobe; today tends to be illuminated whenever engine run on ground. 2 Ground transmitter having directional radiation pattern rotated continuously at predetermined rate (BSI).
