A power-driven, heavier-than-air aircraft that derives its lift in flight chiefly from aerodynamic reactions on surfaces, which remain fixed under given conditions of flight. It includes gliders and rotor planes but includes VTOLs (vertical take-off and landing) and convertiplanes.
