- The part of an aircraft flight in which the aircraft is positioned in such a way that it can touch down at the correct part of the runway on landing.

- This phase begins when the crew initiates changes in aircraft configuration and /or speeds enabling the aircraft to maneuver for the purpose of landing on a particular runway; it ends when the aircraft is in the landing configuration and the crew is dedicated to land on a specific runway. It may also end by the crew initiating a “Go-around” phase.
