- An approach control unit can be served by an FMP. This duty can be assigned to an existing position in the approach control unit, or it may require one or more dedicated positions, depending on the workload. The approach control unit FMP coordinates with the FMP at an area control centre (ACC).
- ATFM is typically organized with a centralized flow management unit. A flow management cell (or flow management position) is established in each participating area control centre.
