- A horizontal direction measured from 0º at the reference direction clockwise or counterclockwise through 90º or 180º. The bearing angle is labeled with the reference direction as a prefix and the direction of measurement from the reference direction as a suffix. Thus, bearing angle N 35ºW is 35º west of north, or bearing 325º.
