Contexto
After regaining control of the aircraft, the flightcrew noticed a warning light announcing the failure of the "A " hydraulic system and a warning flag indicating that the lower yaw damper was inoperative. The captain decided to land the aircraft at Metropolitan Airport, Detroit, Michigan. He instructed the first officer and flight engineer to perform emergency checklist procedures and to notify the flight attendants to prepare the passengers for an emergency landing.
Warning Lights Hydraulic Temperature Warning Light located on the flight engineer's panel illuminates when the fluid in the main reservoir overheats. Hydraulic Reservoir Low Level Warning light located on the captain's glare shield illuminates when the reservoir is less than half full. Emergency Hydraulic Level Light located on the flight engineer's control panel illuminates when the reservoir is half fill. Reservoir Air Low Pressure Warning Light located on the flight engineer's panel illuminates when reservoir air pressure drops to 25 * 2 psi.
