- The Pre-flight phase assumes the aircraft is sitting at the point at which the aircraft will be loaded or boarded, with the primary engine(s) not operating. If boarding occurs in this phase, it is done without any engine(s) operating. Boarding with any engine(s) operating is covered under Engine Start/Depart.
