Definição1
A dynamically balanced unit consisting of turbine blades attached to the periphery of a rotating disk. Hot gases from the combustion chamber flow through a series of nozzle vanes to direct them into the turbine blades at the optimum angle. Torque from the turbine wheel drives the compressor.

Contexto
The fuel/air mixture is ignited and allowed to expand. This combustion gas is then forced through a series of turbine wheels causing them to turn. These turbine wheels provide power to both the engine compressor and the accessory gearbox.
