structural failure
Definição1
The loss of the load-carrying capacity of a component or member within the structure, or of the structure itself. Structural failure is initiated when the material is stressed beyond its ultimate load, thus causing fracture or permanent deformation.

Contexto
With the many rotating parts found in helicopters, some vibration is inherent. A pilot needs to understand the cause and effect of helicopter vibrations because abnormal vibrations cause premature component wear and may even result in structural failure.
