advection
Definição1
A method of heat transfer by horizontal movement of air or fluid. Unlike convection, where heat transfer takes place because of vertical movement, here the horizontal is the cause. When cold air comes into contact with warm ground or water, it heats up because of advection.

Definição2
The process of transport of an atmospheric property solely by the mass motion (velocity field) of the atmosphere; also, the rate of change of the value of the advected property at a given point.

Nota adicional1
Advection is different from convection in that convection transfers heat by vertical, rather than horizontal, movement of the fluid.
