- Definição2
- An upper limit of a control area is established when either the air traffic control service is not planned to be provided above this upper limit; or the control area is situated below an upper control area. In this case, the upper limit should coincide with the lower limit of the upper control area; it should coincide with a VFR cruising level.

- Nota adicional1
- The delineation of the control areas, including airways and terminal control areas, should encompass sufficient airspace to contain the flight paths of those IFR (instrument flight rules) flights to which it is desired to provide air traffic control services deemed appropriate after taking into account the capabilities of the available navigational aids in the area. In a control area, other than that formed by a system of airways, a system of routes may be established for easy provision of air traffic control.
- Contexto
- ATC units shall, when circumstances warrant it, determine the lowest usable flight level or levels for the whole or parts of the control area for which they are responsible, use it when assigning flight levels and pass it to pilots on request.
