Definição1
A change in wind speed and/or wind direction in a short distance resulting in a tearing or shearing effect. It can exist in a horizontal or vertical direction and occasionally in both.

Definição2
A strong horizontal or vertical wind shift that acts at right angles to the direction the wind is blowing. Wind shear, normally associated with the passage of a front, can be dangerous if an aircraft flies through one when slowed for landing or immediately after takeoff.

Definição3
The rate of change in the wind velocity in space, considered as a vector. A vertical shear is a change in the wind velocity with height, whereas a horizontal shear is the change in the wind with the horizontal distance perpendicular to the flow.

Contexto
The forecast and local weather conditions may have significant importance on both the flight conditions and the aircraft performance. This will include the atmospheric conditions, sun or moon locations, wind and any unusual considerations such as volcanic ash, smoke, windshear, visual illusions or icing, along with take-off or destination considerations that may have impacted the take-off or landing profile, such as rushed departure or additional fuel reserve due to expected delays or diversions.
